Probate and Estate Planning in Warren, Ohio

Trumbull · Mahoning · Ashtabula

You know you need a will. Most people put it off because it means thinking about things we’d rather not think about. I keep the process simple: we sit down, I explain your options in plain English, and I handle the paperwork so it’s done right.

Estate Planning

  • Wills. Who receives your property and who will handle your estate.

  • Trusts. When you want more control, privacy or to avoid probate for certain assets.

  • Powers of attorney. Someone you trust to handle finances if you can’t.

  • Health care power of attorney and living will. Your medical wishes, in writing.

  • Guardian nominations for minor children.

Why Not an Online Will?

An online form can be quick, but in Ohio a will has to be signed and witnessed correctly or it may not hold up. When we work together, I’ll ask the questions an online form won’t, go over every part of the will with you, and make sure it’s signed and witnessed properly. That can save your family time, money and stress later.

What to Bring

  • Names of your spouse, children and anyone else you want to include

  • A general list of what you own: home, vehicles, bank and retirement accounts, life insurance

  • Who you want to handle your estate and, if you have minor children, who should care for them

  • Any existing will, trust or power of attorney

Probate and Estate Administration

When a loved one passes, I help the family through the Probate Court: opening the estate, notifying heirs and creditors, inventory, paying debts and distributing what’s left. Smaller estates may qualify for a simpler, faster process.

Guardianships

For adults who can no longer make their own decisions, and for minors who need a guardian of their person or property.

Adoptions

Including stepparent and relative adoptions.

Courts

Trumbull County Probate Court in Warren and Mahoning County Probate Court in Youngstown.

Fees

Wills and estate plans are usually handled for a flat fee, quoted after a free consultation. Estate administration, guardianships and adoptions are quoted based on the work involved.
