How Fees Work

Flat fees. Most criminal cases are handled for one flat fee that covers the case through a plea, dismissal or other resolution. You won’t get a bill for every phone call or court date.

Getting an estimate. For an approximate fee for your type of case, ask the chat assistant on this site, or call or text 330-282-7392. Every case is different, so your actual fee could be higher or lower, and it’s confirmed in writing before you hire me.

What affects your fee:

  • The most serious charge and the number of charges

  • Your prior record

  • The court and how many hearings are likely

  • The amount of evidence, such as video, lab work or phone records

  • Whether experts or an investigator are needed

  • Whether the case goes to trial

Trial. If your case goes to trial, the trial fee is quoted separately.

Not included. Court costs, fines, BMV fees, transcripts, expert or investigator fees and other outside expenses.

Payment plans. About half is paid up front, with the rest in biweekly or monthly payments.

In writing. Your fee and what it covers are written in a fee agreement before you hire me. If the representation ends before the case is finished, you may be entitled to a refund of part of the fee.

Common Questions

Is the consultation really free? Yes. And what you tell me in a consultation is confidential, even if you don’t hire me.

Do I need a lawyer for a misdemeanor? A misdemeanor can still mean jail, fines, a license suspension and a permanent record. A lawyer can often find options you won’t hear about on your own.

Can you get my case dismissed? No honest lawyer can promise a result. I’ll review the evidence and tell you what’s realistic, including whether there are grounds for dismissal.

Should I talk to the police? You have the right to stay silent. Be polite, don’t argue, and say you want to talk to a lawyer first.

What if I missed my court date? Call right away. A missed date can lead to a warrant, and the sooner it’s addressed, the better.

Can I text you? Yes. Text 330-282-7392. Texts and calls are returned during office hours, and messages left after hours are returned the next business day.

What if you’re in court when I call? Lindsay will answer, take your questions and make sure you get an answer.

Where do you practice? Warren and across Trumbull, Mahoning and Ashtabula Counties. My office is on Courthouse Square in downtown Warren.

Can my record be sealed? Many records can. See Record Sealing for waiting periods.

Do you offer payment plans? Yes. Most clients pay about half up front and the rest over time.

Any fee estimate is approximate and could be higher or lower. Your fee depends on the facts of your case and is confirmed in a written agreement. This page is general information, not legal advice.
